Payroll Administrator Dobbies Head Office, Melville Nursery, Lasswade, Midlothian, EH18 1AZ

Here at Dobbies Garden Centres a full time vacancy has arisen for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our small but busy Payroll team based at our Central Support Office based at Lasswade.  As part of the team, the Payroll Administrator will assist in providing an efficient and accurate payroll service to over 3,000 team members throughout the business.

Duties will include:

  • Assisting in processing our various monthly and hourly payrolls to tight deadlines.
  • Collating and processing payroll data received from our stores.
  • Calculating and verifying SSP, SMP and SPP payments.
  • Processing starters, leavers, contract changes and ensuring the payroll records are updated accordingly.
  • Processing monthly and year end processes such as P45's, P60's and legislative information.
  • Processing monthly, year end and ad hoc reports.
  • Responding to all payroll queries received in a professional and efficient manner.

The successful candidate will possess drive, enthusiasm and commitment and have a meticulous, organised and pragmatic approach to their workload with a keen eye for accuracy and high attention to detail.  As an integral member of the payroll team, you will be customer focussed, able to form good working relationships and enjoy working in a fast paced and demanding environment.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience of processing large hourly and monthly payrolls.
  • Experience of processing Kronos time and attendance data.
  • Ability to input data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work within a team or under own initiative.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office, including Excel & Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail. 
  • Good organisational skills with a methodical approach towards workloads.
  • Be able to remain calm and focussed in a pressurised environment.
  • Resilient and resouceful with a "can do" attitude.
